Telkom MMS Settings Code – MMS traffic increased by 70% between 2010 and 2013, thanks in part to the widespread use of smartphones.
The statistics above demonstrate why you must set up MMS as a Telkom user, and this is what this article aims to demonstrate.
As a telecommunication company, Telkom always seeks out the needs of its customers and one way of doing this is by introducing a unique way to set up your MMS by sitting in the comfort of your room.
Aside from the fact that Telkom has been a great telecommunication company, the company has faced some criticisms.
Telkom’s monopoly over fixed-line provision and international access, backed by government investment, is frequently cited as the primary cause of high telecommunications costs.
The continuing monopoly of Telkom in South Africa’s communications industry, as well as the government’s large stake in the company, have been perceived as not being in the best interests of the public by the public, consumers, and the private sector.
According to the Department of Communications, the South African telecommunications regulator ICASA is overburdened and limited in its capabilities.
Telkom controls all international calls originating in South Africa, excluding VoIP, as well as traffic over the SAT3 cable, which provides the majority of South Africa’s international bandwidth.
One of the most serious criticisms leveled at Telkom was the imposition of a monthly traffic limit. According to Telkom, this was implemented to prevent the South African network from becoming congested due to an overflow of information.
However, the general consensus in the South African ADSL community is that Telkom strategically imposed monthly traffic limits in order to extract the maximum amount of money from ADSL users. This is primarily due to Telkom’s charge for additional bandwidth.

What is MMS?
MMS is an abbreviation for Multimedia Messaging Service. This is a standard method of sending messages with multimedia content to and from a mobile phone via a cellular network.
The MMS standard expands on the core SMS capability by allowing the exchange of text messages longer than 160 characters. MMS, as opposed to text-only SMS, can send up to forty seconds of video, one image, a slideshow of multiple images, or audio.
MMS messages are delivered differently than SMS messages. The sending device must first encode the multimedia content in a manner similar to sending a MIME message.
The message is then routed to the Multimedia Messaging Service Centre, which is the carrier’s MMS store and forward server.
If the receiver is on a different carrier than the sender, the MMSC acts as a relay, forwarding the message to the MMSC of the recipient’s carrier via the Internet.
The standards do not specify how to determine whether a handset is MMS capable.
The operator typically maintains a database in which each mobile phone number is marked as being associated with a legacy handset or not.
However, this method is unreliable because customers can change their handsets independently, and many of these databases are not dynamically updated.
In simple terms, before the introduction of messaging apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, and the rest, MMS was the only means through which media was sent from one mobile phone user to the other.
It was really a big deal when your MMS settings are working back in the day, and even these days, there are people who would want to use MMS instead of any of the messaging apps.
