Borrowing airtime on Telkom is something that is very achievable. All you have to do is to pick up your phone and follow the steps that I am about to show you;

Choose Emergency Top Up when the list of services is displayed on your screen 

After the step above, all the available Emergency Top-Up amounts will be displayed for you and you have to decide and choose the amount that you want. Follow the prompts to complete the transaction.  

What Is The Code Used To Borrow Airtime On Telkom 

The code that is used to borrow airtime on Telkom is *180#. Once you dial the code on your phone and you hit the call button, a pop-up containing the list of services will be displayed for you.  

How Much Airtime Can I Borrow On Telkom 

The amount of airtime that you can borrow on Telkom is not fixed, because there is a range of amounts. The amount of airtime that you can borrow on Telkom is R3, R5, R10, R15, and R15.  

You must know that you will be required to be an amount within the listed amount so if the amount that you want is not on the list, all that you have to do is to choose a close amount – either high or low, to the amount that you want to borrow.  

Who Can Borrow Airtime On Telkom? 

Telkom has made it possible for customers to borrow airtime in times of need when they are supposed to call others.  

Before you can borrow airtime on Telkom, you must be a prepaid customer or a top customer who has been using the Telkom network for not less than six (6) months.  

The service is actually a soothing service because it helps you to stay in touch with loved ones when you cannot purchase airtime immediately. 

For instance, you might be locked up in a place where you have no access to a recharge card or mobile money, and the only way to get airtime will be to borrow airtime from Telkom and pay later. This alone makes the service an important one and I am sure it is one of the services that is keeping customers for Telkom.  

To request the Telkom Emergency Top-Up Service from the Telkom Portal, qualifying customers must be registered on the Telkom Portal. 

Qualifying Customers must install and register on the Telkom App in order to use the Telkom App to request the Telkom Emergency Top-Up Service. 

Can I Buy Data With Telkom Emergency Airtime? 

If you thinking of converting your Telkom emergency airtime to data, then I am here to tell you that it is not possible.  

However, you can choose between using your Telkom emergency airtime as data, for voice calls, or messaging. This can only be done at the time when you are accessing the emergency airtime service.  

Although you are allowed to borrow airtime on Telkom, some restrictions come with it and one of such restrictions is you not being able to convert your emergency airtime to data.  

How Do I Get Airtime Advance on Telkom  

Before you can get airtime advance on Telkom, you must first satisfy some requirements and one of these requirements is being a top-up customer or a prepaid customer.  

To use the Telkom App to request the Telkom Emergency Top-Up Service, qualifying customers must be registered on the Telkom Portal. You must also install and register on the Telkom App to use the Telkom App and request the Telkom Emergency Top-Up Service. 

Is A Subscriber Charged When Airtime Is Borrowed On Telkom  

Each Emergency Top-Up transaction will incur an R1.10 service fee. Telkom reserves the right to change the service fee at any time and without prior notice to customers. The qualifying Customer’s total obligation will be the service fee of R1 (One Rand) plus the amount of airtime or data provided to the Customer.  

As a customer, one of the things you must bear in mind is that you will be required to pay the entire amount after using the service.  

The fee charged is the profit that Telkom makes for providing the service to you and it is noteworthy that until you pay the full amount, you cannot borrow another emergency airtime.  

For example, suppose a customer purchases R10 (Ten Rand) Emergency Top Up airtime and then recharges with R20 (Twenty Rand). Telkom will deduct R10 + R1.10 (Service Fee), for a total of R11.10 (eleven Rand and ten cents), from the customer’s airtime balance of R8.90. 

Can I Transfer Borrowed Airtime On Telkom To Another Number? 

Transferring borrowed airtime cannot be transferred. Customers who qualify for the service will be unable to transfer airtime or data from their Telkom Emergency Top-Up Service to another customer. 

However, the customer can call other numbers with their borrowed airtime. So, in case someone wants you to transfer him or her your borrowed credit so that he or she can make a call, you can take the number of the person that he or she wants to call and make the call on their behalf since there is no way you can transfer borrowed credit to them.  

Additionally, if you are a qualified customer for the service, you will only be able to use the Telkom Emergency Top-Up Service when you are in the Republic of South Africa and in a Telkom network area.
